Welcome to our seminars and workshops in the field of scholarly communication for doctoral students, researchers and other employees at the Faculties of Humanities and Theology. The team working with research support at the HT Libraries also organises meetings/workshops for research groups, departments covering subjects such as Open Access, evaluation of publications, data management, as well as other aspects of scholarly communication.

Data Dilemmas: A Panel Discussion on Data Management

Following up on our Data Dilemma sessions this spring, we, together with the Social Sciences Faculty Library, now invite you to a panel discussion on the same topic. This is an opportunity to continue the discussion on the topical issues raised during the previous sessions. What should you as a researcher keep in mind when you gather and store your data? What requirements are there, and who has the right to what? What should be archived, what is deselected and when is this done? Take this opportunity to ask your questions about data management to representatives from the Ethical Review Board, the University Archive and the Legal Division!

Getting the Measure of Metrics: Evaluation for Researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences

How is impact measured for research within the Humanities and the Social Sciences? What tools and services are generally used, and how can I make my collaborative efforts (within and outside the university) visible? In what contexts is it relevant to use the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers, the h-index, Kudos or LUCRIS? Join us as we take a closer look at some of these metrics and data with bibliometrician Fredrik Åström.

EndNote introduction

EndNote is a reference management program used for saving references, creating bibliographies and keeping track of full texts. We offer an introduction to EndNote, for both beginners and those in need of a refresher. There is time for questions after the presentation.

Manage your Image: Using Pictures in the Research Process

Tuesday November 28, 13.15-16.00 (SOL:B210)

The IT Unit and the library show tools and answer questions related to using images in the research process. We present the image database that is currently under construction, programs for image processing, the data analysis tool Nvivo. Moreover, we will talk briefly about issues concerning copyright when using your own, or others’ illustrations and pictures. We start with a few short presentations (about 45 minutes in total). Then, we open up for questions, discussions and make the tools available for you to test yourself.

Do you have any questions with regards to registering, or updating your information in LUCRIS? Perhaps regarding publications, activities or how to relate them to one another? In advance of the annual research review, the HT Libraries arrange a drop-in workshop where you can get assistance using LUCRIS. Other questions are of course also welcome.
